Accumulated Activity Category
Teams earn miles based on daily activity tracked using the Activity Conversion Calculator on the Shape Up Montana website, or the new smartphone app. Simply select your activity along with your weight and the duration (how long you were active) to convert the activity into miles.
Each member is responsible for logging these miles into the Shape Up Montana website. Your miles will be automatically combined with your team members' activity. Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams that average the most miles logged per person over the three-month program.
The Accumulated Activity category is split into 3 divisions:
Activity level where a majority of the members have less than 3 years of exercise experience.
Activity level where a majority of members have more than 3 years of exercise experience & routinely workout to stay fit.
Activity level where all members are family. Family members may be from outside of Montana.
*Teams may also participate in the Healthy Weight Category for no extra fee.
Accumulated activity is computed using averaged metabolic rates, or METs. METs are a physiological measure of the human body's heat production during activity. Each team member logs their activity by selecting the specific activity from the dropdown, and then entering their weight and the duration of the activity. This information is then converted into miles for simple tracking and comparison.

Start by registering your team or sign in to the Shape Up Montana website.
As a team captain you are responsible for putting together your team and processing your team's registration online. Teams have a minimum of four members and can have up to ten (including the captain).
The team captain is essentially the manager or "Coach" for the entire team. They can add and remove individuals and manage member profile information. Also, while each team member is responsible for entering their activity online through the SUM website, the team captain may also do this for any members on their team. As captain of the team, you'll all be the one to receive the FREE Shape Up Montana t-shirt to distribute to team members.
- Registration Begins: January 1
- Registration Ends: January 31 (late entries accepted)
- FREE T-shirt Deadline: Must register by January 31 to receive free t-shirt.
- Program Date: February 1 to April 1 (April 1 to May 1 — Optional Maintenance Month)
- Monthly Reporting Dates for Weight Division: March 1 and April 1
- Free Health Club Week: March 6 to March 12
- Virtual Walk/Run: March 20 to March 26
